Pick Up the Chair…Hang it on The Wall

Chairs are probably the most basic requirement in any room. To save on space and increase utility, some kind soul discovered folding chairs.

In fact folding chairs have been used by the people of Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

It was as late as 1911 that Nathaniel Alexander of Lynchburg, Virginia patented the folding chair in America.

Adding a new dimension to folding chairs is Studio Dror's Pick Chair, which can actually be hung on the wall when not in use. As the studio's website puts it, the Pick Chair "intertwines the emotion of art with the single poetics of form following function."

The extreme simplicity of the idea is its greatest attraction. The chair made of wood veneer over a hinged metal structure can be hung on a wall when not needed.

If that is not innovation what is?

To add to its inherent value, the wooded surface of the chair can be engraved, so that once it's on the wall, it becomes a piece of art -a very functional piece of art. The chair has been designed by Dror Benshetrit. The Pick Chair saves space, adds to the aesthetics of a home and is sure to become a great conversation piece.
